InvestNJ Business Grant Program

To help New Jersey businesses face the fiscal challenges of the current national economic crisis, Governor Jon S. Corzine signed legislation creating the Invest NJ Program. The bill, A3294/S6 (December 9, 2008), establishes the program within the New Jersey Economic Development Authority and authorizes $120 million in grants to stimulate capital investment and job creation in the Garden State for a two-year period.

State Square
Construction Complete

The old State Theater site, at 2854 Kennedy Blvd., now called State Square and one of Journal Square’s proudest new achievements, is fully occupied.

The building has 130 residential units, about 15,000 square feet of retail space, and a much-needed 300-space parking garage.

Egyptian Festival 2007

>>2007 - Journal Square was the site of the Tapestry of Nations Egyptian Festival on Saturday, June 30 at the PATH Plaza. The all-day festival featured traditional Egyptian music & dance, authentic Egyptian cuisine, children's entertainment, a traditional "Horse Dance", and a Whirling Dervish. Some photos of the event appear below.

 


Journal Square Welcomes West Point Cadets

On a March, 2007 afternoon the JSRC met with the West Point Cadets at the Loews Theater. Patti Giordan, from Loews, spoke about the history of the theater and Chris Bernardo, SID Operations Manager, talked about the revitalization effort and the future of the square. Special thanks to Ahmed and Raju for putting it all together!


Journal Square Continues Sports Joint Venture with Saint Peter's College

In the 2006/2007 basketball season at Saint Peter's College men's and women's home games, the JSRC Board members were invited to distribute the tickets to their favorite charitable organization.

North Fork Bank Promotion at St. Peter's College:  More than 20 guests from Hudson County United Cerebral Palsy and the Boys and Girls Club of Jersey City attended a February game at St. Peter's as guests of North Fork Bank and the Journal Square SID.

Lords Gives Away 100 FREE Basketball tickets: The SID and Lords Children's Clothing gave away 100 free basketball tickets to Friday night's St. Peter's basketball game.

 

 


Holiday Happenings in Journal Square

>>2005 - Journal Square celebrated the holidays with entertainment and decorations at The Fountain in the Square. Holiday music with a Caribbean flavor was performed by Exodus Supreme on December 7th.
